Review

No vitiation of any of the doshas during Grisma, Hemanta and Shishira seasons; only accumulation of Vata and Kapha doshas respectively. So, internal environment is not very disturbed. But the external environment plays crucial role in designing of regimen.

The environmental conditions plus regimen followed to fulfill the requirement generated in the body due to extreme heat (grisma) and extreme cold that the accumulation of those doshas is favored.

Whereas, in other three seasons like Varsa, Sarada and Vasanta there is aggravation of Vata, Pitta and Kapha doshas respectively due to external environment prevailing during this season and more so . Because the previous season resulted into accumulation of these three doshas and sudden change of environmental conditions in these seasons, favor the outburst of those accumulated doshas and they get aggravated during respective seasons. Like with previous hot season i.e. grisma ritu, and sudden appearance of clouds and rainwater taking place, brings out all the heat conserved in earth, which leads to hot& humid atmosphere. These conditions further diminish the digestive fire, which facilitates the aggravation/ vitiation of all three doshas. Moreover, continuous rainfall aggravates Amla Rasa in universe, in food, as well as in medicines. Therefore, overall there is delicate condition of all three dosha in rainy season and hence moderate regimen that pacifies all three and does not aggravate any of them strongly recommended. Vata Prakriti persons, old age person should be specially protected and given special regimen to control Vata like Basti.

Therefore it has been said in Ayurveda, that at the period of junction of two seasons i.e. last weak of passing season and first weak of coming season, which is called “Rtusandhi’ one should follow the mix regimen of both seasons in tapering off and switching on manner to avoid the consequences of abruptness of season as well as of regimen.
